-Frequently Asked Questions-
Should I hire a professional makeup artist for my wedding day?
YES. Here's the short version -
Your wedding day is not a good time to risk doing your own makeup, or done by your friend who owns every Naked palette. Photo ready makeup and being great at doing your own are notttt the same. It’s one less thing to stress over and you'll guarantee your look holds through hugs, sweat, tears, and kisses! Sometimes, it’s not even the product, but how it’s applied that makes all of the difference. Your photos commemorate this day for the rest of your life - you are worth looking AND feeling your absolute best.
How far in advance should I book my wedding?
ASAP. March-June and October are most popular and I'm usually booked 6 months to a year in advance for those particular months. Three months or less can be difficult to accommodate for Saturdays, but please send me an email and I would be more than happy to look at my schedule. I do provide services on Sundays but there is a nominal convenience fee as this is usually my only full day off.
Do you provide a trial run?
Yes! Its a must and that’s why its built into my pricing. It makes the day of go SO much faster and ensures everyone is on the same page. Trials take place at my studio in Broken Arrow and usually take an hour. We will discuss your inspiration photos, skin concerns, spray tanning, allergies, lighting etc. I encourage brides to schedule their trial run to coincide with bridal or engagement portraits, bridal shower, day of your hair trial run, dress fittings, etc., to help you get a feel for the whole look, how it will last, and translate on camera.
Do you require a retainer fee for weddings?
Yes! And they are non refundable. This holds your date until the contract is submitted. I have many brides that trial with several artists (which I encourage) and I also get many requests for the same wedding date. In the event that I’m not your cup of tea, I have probably turned down other financial opportunities. C Y A. you know?
Do you use airbrush makeup?
I do not. Its pretty (when done correctly) but, I’m old fashioned and a control freak about skin - I custom mix everything!
Do you do provide hair styling?
No. I AM a hair stylist and specialize in color but updos are just not my passion. I prefer to give 100% to one service when I’m on location. Time constraints also play a huge role in not providing both. But if you need a bomb cut/color - send me an email! I have recommendations for bridal stylists here.
Does makeup or hair go first?
The only time makeup needs to go first is if you have an obstructing hair accessory or fringe that needs to be sprayed into place. I prefer it to be last if you are going to be helping with set up until the last minute or it’s a super hot day!
What methods of payment do you accept?
I accept cash, PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay, Square Cash, and credit cards. If your bridesmaids are paying individually please make sure they have one of the above mentioned options and pay at the time of service. It takes too much time for me to hunt them down. And its awkward.
Gratuity is not included or required, but always greatly appreciated.
What brands of makeup do you use?
All kinds! You will find a wide variety in my kit... Chanel, MAC, Morphe, Laura Mercier, even some drugstore products. All made and/or applied to give you long-wearing and photo ready results. PLEASE indicate on my contract if you have any known allergies.
I don't wear much makeup - Should I still hire a pro?
Yes! You don't need a lot - you just need the right products. I can give you a very natural look that will define your key features to make sure you look great in photos and feel your best. I can ‘Instagram slay’, but it is not my typical style and you’re probably going to hate your tooooo trendy photos in 10 years. This is also why trial consultations are important.
Do you have experience with mature skin, acne, and ethnic skin?
Yes! My experience as an artist with Chanel cosmetics has made me feel extremely comfortable and knowledgeable with mature skin. I am very skincare focused and have many foundations shades to mix for just the perfect undertone for any skin color, and texture for any skin type.
How long does it take to complete each service?
Brides - 45 minutes, Bridesmaids/Mothers 30-40 minutes, approximately.
Can you accommodate large parties?
8 is my personal max, which requires a minimum of 5 hours of prep in your timeline.
How do you keep your tools/products sanitized?
I wash my brushes with brush cleaner between each client, and deep clean/sanitize them after every job. They are kept in an enclosed container or covered on location. I have lots of brushes so that I can use a clean one for everyone and I’m a huge sanitizer girl.
What if I cry?
Don’t worry - your eyeliner and mascara are waterproof! Nothing will run or smudge, but please do NOT rub or wipe tears/sweat away. Use a tissue to dab an blot the moisture and you’ll be good to go.
How will I touch up later in the day/evening?
Touch up kits are included for the bride and include a small compact mirror, makeup wipe, lip touch up, oil blotting sheets, and touch up powder.
How should I prepare my skin for my wedding day?
I recommend scheduling an appt with an esthetician. Regular facials and skincare treatments can lead to a better and longer lasting makeup application on the day of. I highly recommend dermaplaning and/or a Hydra facial the week of. Both have no downtime. If you are less than a month out, do not incorporate any new makeup or skincare products into your routine.
Do you do destination weddings?
YES. I have a passport and will go anywhere. Lets chat!
